A woman from India who died while drinking from a drinking water filter in a village in Maharashtra has been buried with her mother and her sister in a shallow grave in the city.
The woman, who was aged in her 40s, died after she drank water from the filter while she was waiting to wash her hands and face in a local market in Thakurapuram village in Chitradurga district of Maharashtra state.
According to the Mumbai Mirror, the woman had been waiting for a woman from her village who had taken water from an underground pipe at the market.
The family, however, claimed the woman drank “drunkens water” and had passed out.
The paper added that local authorities in Thalassery, where the woman died, have been investigating the incident.
